SS21 CULTURAL SENTIMENT

VULNERABILITY

We are living in a time of abundance, yet we still want more. We question what's missing and crave to connect back to our true sensitive and highly-vulnerable self. As we awaken to this need to be more human, we start to feel our vulnerability. Identifying our first Cultural Sentiment  are exploring what this means for us now and how we can use it as a resource for boundless creativity and to live a more fulfilling life.

In this section we will address:

  • The 2021 Macro and Micro trends that are driving this Cultural Sentiment

  • How it is influencing consumers’ lifestyles, attitudes, values and feelings

  • The significant cultural “WHYS” that are shaping the consumer landscape

  • How it will impact and inspire color direction

  • How it will influence design for each market

*Guest speaker: Sadie Kurzban, founder of 305 Fitness who will speak about finding strength in Vulnerability and embracing your authentic self

SYMPHONY

The future belongs to boundary breakers--those who are willing to cross-pollinate to weave newness from collaboration and juxtaposition. Today’s success and satisfaction come from living a multidimensional life. We are multicultural; we speak multiple languages; we create multidisciplinary careers. In this uber-designed landscape, new ideas develop from a harmonious blend of elements. Like great composers, we must honor the individuality of each component and blend seemingly separate pieces into unified, unique, and new opportunities.

REVERENCE

As we challenge traditional worship and seek out new meanings in spirituality, we stand in awe of our incredible planet and see that magic and wonder is all around us - we are all connected. We focus our efforts on sustainability and investing in our communities. We refresh our soul with adventures that allow us to disconnect and re-engage with ourselves and nature. Humility, appreciation, and worship before the greatness of our existence is the key to our survival.

In this section we will address:

PLEASURE

Strip the term “guilty pleasure” from your vocabulary; it’s time to pursue what satisfies you freely. The pleasure revolution seeks to expel the guilt complex we have around our own enjoyment and realize that joy is something we all deserve- it’s our birth right! Shift focus onto yourself: consider your desires, amusements, and gratifications. Procure your sexual awakening by destroying taboos around sex, gender, and fertility. Discovering what pleases oneself is an essential part of the journey to embracing life fully. Pleasure is the ultimate freedom to be alive.

In this section we will address:

  • The 2021 Macro and Micro trends that are driving this Cultural Sentiment

  • How it is influencing consumers’ lifestyles, attitudes, values and feelings
